How colour affects purchases

We spied a great post with a nifty infographic on the KISSMetrics blog about how colour affects purchases. The key take-outs are:

  • Red Orange, Black, and Royal Blue  attract impulse shoppers;
  • Navy Blue and Teal attract budget shoppers;
  • Pink, Sky Blue, and Rose attract traditional buyers;
  • Green is associated with wealthy and helps buyers relax;
  • Yellow is optimistic and youthful;
  • Colour increases brand recognition by 80%;
  • 52% of buyers do not revisit a website due to poor design or aesthetics

    Hi, great topic. I think aesthetics are not considered enough in the design process. You should also consider colour for colour blindness. Up to 10% of mainly men cannot see red and green colours properly on websites. So key buttons, links etc should not use these colours.
