Generic words are often the most valued, the first to be snapped up in any domain space. Combine that with the fact that com.au is one of the most successful spaces for business and you can't afford to miss out.

This means you have an increased chance of securing the domain name registration.

How to apply for Melbourne IT Priority Application Service?

Step 1 — Review the list of names available for application and identify those names you wish to secure (Will be available at approximately 11.30am Tuesday 1st October, 2002). Refer to the auDA's "Domain Name Eligibility and Allocation Policy Rules for Open 2LDs" to ensure that you are eligible to apply. View auDA's policy here. Multiple applications for separate domain names are allowed. Please note that once an application has been checked by Melbourne IT and has provisionally passed all policy requirements it will be removed from Melbourne IT's list of available Generic .com.au domain names.

Step 2 — Submit a Completed Application Form with Credit Card Details. Prior to the Generic names being released, Melbourne IT will review your application and advise you by email if you are in the queue for that domain name. If your application needs to be corrected, you will be given 24 hours in which to correct any errors and resubmit your application, retaining your first in queue status with Melbourne IT. Applicants must send all correspondence to Melbourne IT via genericnames@melbourneit.com.au unless advised otherwise.

Before making an application please make sure that you have read Melbourne IT's Terms & Conditions thoroughly (please see below)

Where your domain name has been successfully registered with the .au registry, Melbourne IT will then process your credit card payment and issue a tax invoice where appropriate.
