Our background
Melbourne IT originated from within the University of Melbourne in 1996 and quickly established itself as a world leader in the domain name business as the administrator of Australia's commercial domain space - com.au. Through innovative technologies and exceptional service standards, com.au quickly became one of the largest and most successful domain spaces in the world.

Our growth
In April 1999, Melbourne IT was accredited by ICANN to provide registrar services in the .com .net and .org domain spaces and in July 2000, became the first ICANN accredited registrar to offer multi-lingual domain names to the global market.

Throughout 2001 and 2002 Melbourne IT has continually introduced new domain products including services for the .biz, .info and .name domain spaces as well as many key country code domain spaces such as co.uk, .to and more.

Although the registrar operation remains the core of the business, Melbourne IT has an interest in NeuLevel; a joint venture with US telecommunications company NeuStar to provide worldwide domain registry services. The .biz space that NeuLevel operates went live in October 2001. Melbourne IT also has an interest in an IT Incubator project, (Information City Victoria) which was officially launched on 30 March, 2001.

Melbourne IT now operates on every continent with offices in Melbourne, Madrid and San Francisco along with strategic partners throughout Europe and Asia.

Melbourne IT currently provides the systems and support networks for more than 1.5 million domain name license holders. These customers enjoy the benefit of real-time automation as well as fully secure and intelligent self-service systems. Our resellers
We provide domain name registration and other on-line business services to a global network of Resellers covering Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, the United States and Canada. Our Resellers have access to the most advanced domain name registration and maintenance system in the world. The benefits include a real-time, automated registration system which can be wholly integrated into the Reseller's site and branded as their own, access to round the clock, multi-lingual support as well as dedicated account management.
